@CJTheeGameDev and I met during round 1 of the GDKO game jam. He’s been incredibly supportive and encouraging. Plus, we share a love of several of the same game series. But now, the proverbial gauntlet has been thrown! CJ and I are engaged in pixelated fisticuffs! (Translation: we’re learning pixel art together by doing the @Pixel_Dailies challenge.)

The Pixel Art Challenge

As game developers, CJ and I are always looking for ways to sharpen our skills. That’s why we’ve decided to take on a new challenge – doing the Pixel Dailies art prompt together!

Starting tomorrow, we’ll embark on a daily pixel art journey, inspired by the daily prompts provided by Pixel Dailies. We’ll each create our own unique pixel art pieces based on the prompts, and share them on our Twitter accounts.

I’m also inviting all of our followers to join us on this pixel art adventure! Whether you’re a seasoned pixel artist or just starting, the Pixel Dailies prompts are a great way to challenge yourself and improve your skills.

This challenge will last one week (at the moment). At the end of that week, I’ll be posting everything I’ve learned in a blog post (and hopefully get CJ’s experience, too). I’ll also be displaying all of our submissions. If you join us in this challenge, be sure to tag me. I’ll include your artwork, too!

Shout Out

Special shout out to another new friend and fellow GDKO competitor: @EndmarkGames. Endmark has been incredibly helpful as I’ve shown interest in pixel art. He’s shown me a few good pixel artists and teachers to follow. He’s also the one who encouraged CJ and me to start this challenge together.

So Endmark, thank you. I really appreciate all the support and encouragement you’ve given everyone throughout the GDKO competition.

Conclusion

Get your pixel art tools ready and join us in the ultimate pixel art challenge! Follow us on Twitter at @CJtheegamedev and @gameDev_MOpitz, and make sure to tag us and @Pixel_Dailies in your posts so we can see your awesome creations. Let’s do this!
